Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Normally, that's as close together as any paragraphs in Word will get -- there should not be a single space between them unless for some reason you've included an empty paragraph mark at the end of each footnote.
If they are there, see below. If the default spacing isn't close enough, you can reduce it further by modifying the Footnote Text style. If there are two paragraph marks at the end of some or all footnotes, it's possible to remove the extra ones. However, Word is very unhelpful -- if you try to use the Replace dialog to replace two paragraph marks with one, it inserts a new one instead of removing the extra!
While you can use the mouse and the Delete key to get rid of them one at a time, that's too tedious to be useful. Hi, I'm helping to proof a book that's written in Word. Suggestions welcome! If you want to configure your document to automatically double space as you write, there are two ways to do it.
Your text will now be double spaced. You can do this to quickly double spacing at any point in the writing process, but it works best for setting up the document. You can accomplish the same goal using the Design tab. Select it to bring up a menu. Another easy way to double space your documents is to use our old friend, the please note this method works as both a way to configure the document before writing and to double space while writing.

Hi Glenys Yes, you should be able to set this in your template and it should save for future docs created from that template not existing docs associated with it, though. Hi Dan Glad I could help! This is awesome. Thank you!! Easy fix and clear explanation.
