So, I decided to do this for my RS sisters in my ward. I have since had several sisters in the missionary mom email group ask for it. I just emailed them all and told them it would be on your website — hope that was okay.
I thought that would be easier for them to get. Then place them in order and put them inside a white envelope or clear cellophane bag with a picture of the Savior on the outside of it. You can include things that go with each day like treats or photos, etc. It was a beautiful photo of the Sea of Galilee and I had typed that on the photo as well…. I told them not to peek ahead and to open it after they had read the last day. You open each one of the stories each day for 14 Days in the morning to help you focus that day on how you can become like the Savior.
It is a beautiful thing to do for Easter and Christmas too. Ending it on Christmas Eve or Christmas or ending or beginning it at Easter is nice. The only way we can really know another person is to walk in their shoes: think what they think, learn what they know, and what they would say, do what they would do.
We can only accomplish this as we become like him. In the morning: set aside enough time to open the envelope for that day. Each day has a set of questions followed by a story, poem, or scripture to help you walk with Christ.
Try to keep what you read in mind throughout the day. Perhaps take it with you to reread. At the end of the day: evaluate how you did, and write your thoughts and feelings in your journal. Trust in him and have faith. He will never lead us astray.
Suddenly, Jesus was standing in their midst. The apostles were startled and perhaps a little frightened, for they supposed they were seeing only a spirit. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so I send you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.
One of the apostles, Thomas, called Didymus, was not present when Jesus appeared to the others. However, eight days later Thomas was meeting with the disciples behind closed doors when, without warning, Jesus again appeared before them in the room.
And again He allayed their fears by saying, Peace be unto you. Thomas realized now that all that he had been told was true and answered, My Lord and My God. Then with a mild reprimand, the Savior told Thomas what the difference is between belief and a true faith: Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Gone is the sting of death. The grave is robbed of its victory. He was the master of life and death, the man of miracles. It was He who made the blind to see, the lame to walk, the dead to live. Day 2 — Prayer Ere you left your room this morning, did you think to pray? Read the following story to see how prayer and trusting in the Lord will make things happen. A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light and the Savior appeared.
The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might. This the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing it with all his might. Each night the man returned to his cabin sore, and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain.
Why kill yourself over this? You are never going to move it. These troubled thoughts discouraged and dishearten the man. And that is what he planned to do until one day he decided to make it a matter of prayer and take his thoughts to the Lord. Yet, after all this time, I have not even been able to budge that rock. What is wrong?
Why am I failing? Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed. But, is that really so? Your arms are strong and muscled, your back sinewy and brown, your hands are callused from constant pressure, and your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you have grown much and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have.
But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in my wisdom. This you have done. I, my friend, will now move the rock. When everything seems to get you down or go wrong, …Just P. God can reveal to us our talents and our strengths so that we will know what we can build upon.
Also be assured, as Paul said further, that there will be no temptation befall us but what is common to man: but God will, with each temptation, provide a way to escape. See 1 Cor. Missionaries quickly learn that the reward for obedience is the constant companionship of the Holy Spirit. With that companionship a missionary cannot fail. So, it is with us as we strive to do what is right — we will always have the companionship of the Holy Ghost to guide us.
Read this story to give your more insight on obedience. We sometimes are unaware of the powerful forces pulling on us. Appearances can be very deceptive. A few years ago I had an experience with deceptive appearances where the results could have been tragic.
It was a calm summer day on the Oregon coast, and we were fishing in the ocean. It was pleasant, and we were having a good time catching salmon, when for some reason I turned around to see a huge eight-foot wave bearing down upon us.
I only had time to shout a warning before the wave hit us broadside. Somehow the boat stayed upright, but Gary, our cousin, was thrown overboard. We were all wearing life jackets and with some difficulty maneuvered the boat, half filled with water, to where he was floating and pulled him aboard. We had been hit by what is called a sneaker wave. Later we found that up and down the Oregon-Washington coast, five people had drowned that day in three separate boating accidents.
All were caused by the same sneaker wave, which for no apparent reason had welled up off the ocean surface. At the time we went out over the bar, the ocean was flat and calm and gave no sign of any danger. But the ocean turned out to be very deceptive and not at all what it appeared to be. If we are not careful, the sneaker waves in life can be as deadly as those in the ocean. One of the sneaky ploys of the adversary is to have us believe that unquestioning obedience to the principles and commandments of God is blind obedience.
His goal is to have us believe that we should be following our own worldly ways and selfish ambitions. He teaches that it is not intelligent to do something just because we are told to do so by a living prophet or by prophets who speak to us from the scriptures. President Boyd K.
They are obedient because they know certain spiritual truths and have decided, as an expression of their own individual agency, to obey the commandments of God.
Pray for a missionary experience. Mark l7 — And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. Read the following quotes and scriptures and ponder on these things as you go about your day today.
Have a beautiful day. Spencer W. This is our privilege. This is our duty. This is a command from the Lord. I took it out and pounded it on the floor. Not a single card would come out.
I desperately pulled out a card and tried to rip it, but it was as strong as steel. Leaning my forehead against the wall, I let out a sigh, then I saw it. The handles were brighter than those around it, newer, almost unused. I pulled on its handle and a small box fell into my hands. I could count the cards it contained on one hand. And then the tears came. I began to cry. Sobbing so deep it hurt my stomach. I fell on my knees and cried out in shame. The rows of shelves whirled around me.
No one must ever know of this room. I must lock it up and hide the key. But as I pushed away the tears, I saw Him. No, please, not here. Oh, anyone but Jesus! I watched helplessly as He began to open the files and read the cards.
In the moments that I could bring myself to look at His face, I saw sorrow deeper than my own. He seemed to go to the worst boxes. Why did He have to read every one? Finally He turned and looked at me with pity in His eyes. I dropped my head and began to cry again. He just cried with me. Then He got up and walked back to the wall of files. Starting at one end of the room, he took out a card and one by one He began to sign His name over mine.
But there it was, written in red so rich, so dark, so alive. He gently took the cards back. He smiled a sad smile and began to sign all the cards. I do not think I will ever understand how he did it so quickly. But the next instance it seemed, I heard Him close the last file and walk back to my side.
I stood up and He led me out of the room. There was no lock on the door. There are still cards to be written. Today I will choose one thing that I need to cleanse from my life and sincerely repent and strive to do better. Read: Matthew 25 Thought: If we take the teachings of the Savior into our hearts, we will be filled with light and become like Him. Before making his first sale, he took a white balloon, filled it with helium gas and it floated into the air on the string. Next, he inflated a red balloon and then a yellow one.
The Light of Christ by Boyd K. It is ever there. In this respect, all men are created equally. He treats everyone equally in that endowment with the Light of Christ.
Today I will let my light shine and let others come to know Christ through my actions. Day 4 Wednesday: Day of Rest On this day, all that is recorded in the scriptures is that Jesus spent the day outside the city of Jerusalem in seclusion.
Jesus probably spends a day of rest with his friends at Bethany. Thought: The Lord had friends who provided comfort for Him. He asks that we do the same for others. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question. Yet, my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as the other children do. The father continued. And it comes in the way people treat that child.
Throughout the evening the children were able to decorate their trees as we talked about each symbol. I just found some small stickers for each symbol. For the tree, I used green cardstock and cut a 3-D tree, using my Silhouette.
But you could simply use a flat cardstock tree as well or even a Christmas tree printed onto paper. I have included the entire script for this special Christmas Program, below. It has all the speaking parts , titles to the songs we used, and the names of each Mormon Message we used. You could use the one from the hymnal or find another online. And here is a link to one of the videos. All the videos are easy to find, just search LDS. Are you ready to plan your own Spirit of Christmas ward activity?
I created a Google Doc of my program. Just click the link below to view it. Since it is a shared Google Doc please do not edit the original file.
The second link is a shortened version that a wonderful sister, Amanda MacKay, emailed to me. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I am amazed at the number of people that have used my script. I hope the members of your ward enjoy it and are able to feel the Spirit. If you use my script and make changes to it, I would love to hear about them. Your email address will not be published.

My husband and I were just called to be in charge of the ward Christmas party and its ONE month away. So a BIG thank you! Quick question: Did you do the program at the beginning or after dinner?
And how long did your long version of the program go? Hi Elise! It really was a great program. If I remember right, we had dinner before. After a certain amount of time we let everyone know that we would be beginning the program. They could continue eating if they felt like it.
As for the time frame…I think it was 45 mins-1 hour, I think. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions. I love this program and plan on using it. Do you know where we can find it? It can be done for Easter or Christmas. Caution: In the Bishops handbook I believe it states, no actor should actually portray Christ himself, we specifically told our people involved this and asked them to portray other people.
We are changing things a little bit. I urge each of you to be guided by the Spirit, and also to check with your Bishop before planning this, just to make sure the Priesthood is supportive.
If you delegate things well, and have lots of help, you can pull this together pretty well. We are using mostly Priesthood holders in the rooms, but you could have women, young women, or couples be in charge of different rooms.
